The Mary Ann Studio of Dance firmly believes in giving to the community. Our contributions can range from entertaining those who can not get out of their home by going to nursing homes or senior centers to perform; to entertaining at a community event like the pancake breakfast; all the way to raising funds for a charitable cause. On a recent weekend, the students of the Mary Ann Studio of Dance actually had a double header by supporting and raising money for the American Heart Association as well as supporting the Ronald McDonald House on the very same day.
The afternoon saw many a Mary Ann Dancer at the Eastfield Mall entertaining the shoppers while supporting a good cause. The Mary Ann Studio of Dance has promoted their "Dance for Heart" day for over 30 years and each year the students have contributed to the American Heart Association. The students smiled in delight as they performed for the shoppers, family and friends. Taking the stage were veteran dancers who had participated in the "Dance for Heart" before (children as well as adult dancers) and even some new performers, the toddler class, getting their first experience performing before a live audience.
In the evening there was "13" what a lucky number, but that was the whole theme for the Ronald McDonald House Charity Gala, called "things that go bump in the night" superstitions with a "Thriller" twist. These lucky 13 dancers from the adult classes had long been practicing to pull off a flash mob event in the middle of a formal dinner at the Log Cabin. From the start, the lady dancers walked the room in their zombie attire getting the guests in the mood for the evening. Then, just before the business portion of the evening was to begin the "thriller" music was cued up and the Mary Ann Zombies danced their way to the dance floor to the unexpected delight of the audience.
One busy day for The Mary Ann Studio of Dance and what a great feeling to be able to exercise, smile, have fun while supporting two wonderful charities!
